Ingredients

  • 3 cups boiling water
  • 1 1/2 cups white rice (basmati)
  • 1/4 cube butter
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 3/4 cup cut dates
  • dash of salt

Instructions

  1. Put the water on to boil with a dash of salt.
  2. Add the rice to the boiling water, cover, and cook on low heat for 20 minutes or until the rice is tender.
  3. Simmer the cut dates in butter for a few minutes.
  4. Saute the slivered almonds in butter until they are lightly browned.
  5. Add the toasted almonds and simmered dates to the cooked rice and serve.
