Rich Layer Fruit Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter
  • 3 eggs, beaten well
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. allspice
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1 1/2 c. coconut
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. nuts
  • 1 c. blackberry jam

Instructions

  1. Run nuts, raisins and coconut through food chopper.
  2. Cream butter and sugar.
  3. Add eggs, milk (in which soda has been dissolved), jam, spices, flour and chopped ingredients.
  4. Bake in three well-greased and floured 9-inch layer cake pans at 350° for 30 minutes.
  5. Cool and put together with filling.
