Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 1/2 to 5 cups flour
  • 3 (1/4 oz.) packages dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water (100° to 120°)

Instructions

  1. Heat milk and margarine together in a saucepan until the margarine melts.
  2. Pour into a large bowl and let it cool for 5 to 10 minutes until lukewarm.
  3. Add 1/2 cup sugar, salt, and well-beaten eggs to the milk mixture and mix well.
  4. Add 2 cups of flour to the milk mixture and stir well.
  5. Dissolve the yeast and remaining 1 tablespoon of sugar in the warm water (100° to 120°) and add to the flour mixture.
  6. Stir in enough of the remaining flour to make a sticky dough.
