Ingredients

  • 1 lb. hamburger or sausage
  • 1/2 lb. bacon (1/2-inch dice)
  • 1 onion (1/2-inch dice)
  • 1 (16 oz.) can pork and beans
  • 1 can kidney or chili beans
  • 1 can lima beans
  • 1 can butter beans
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. prepared mustard
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Drain the liquid from the cans of beans for a thicker sauce.
  2. Cook the hamburger or sausage until browned and fully cooked.
  3. In a large skillet, cook bacon until crispy, then add diced onion and cook until translucent.
  4. Combine cooked meats and bacon with the drained beans in a mixing bowl.
  5. Add brown sugar, cider vinegar, prepared mustard, ketchup, salt, and pepper to the bean mixture.
  6. Mix well to combine all ingredients thoroughly.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 30 minutes or until heated through and bubbly.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with additional bacon or herbs if desired.
