Tips & Substitutions

For best results, use fresh ground chuck and let the bread soak in water for a few minutes before mixing. If you don't have Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce can be a suitable substitute. Feel free to add herbs like parsley or oregano for extra flavor. To keep the meatballs tender, avoid overmixing the ingredients.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the meatballs over a bed of pasta or alongside mashed potatoes for a hearty meal. They pair well with a side of steamed vegetables or a fresh salad. For an interesting twist, try them in a sub sandwich topped with cheese, or enjoy them with a side of Western Corn for a complete dinner.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftover meatballs in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, place them in a saucepan over low heat with a bit of sauce until warmed through, or microwave them in short intervals, covered, to prevent drying out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I freeze the meatballs?

Yes, you can freeze the uncooked or cooked meatballs. Place them in a single layer on a baking sheet to freeze, then transfer them to a freezer bag. They can be frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before cooking or reheating.

What can I use instead of bread?

If you're looking for a gluten-free option, consider using gluten-free breadcrumbs or crushed oats. For a low-carb alternative, grated zucchini or cauliflower can be used to help bind the meatballs while keeping them moist.

How do I know when the meatballs are done?

The meatballs are cooked through when they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C). You can also cut one open to ensure it's no longer pink inside. The sauce should be bubbling and thickened for the best flavor.
