  1. Heat water, molasses, oil, sugar, salt, caraway seeds, and caramel color until very warm, around 120°C.
  2. Add the warm mixture to the dry ingredients and mix very well, using a Kitchen Aid Mixer if desired.
  3. Slowly add enough rye flour and mix until the dough no longer sticks to fingers.
  4. Let the dough rise for only 20 to 30 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough into 2 rounds on greased sheet pans sprinkled with cornmeal.
  6. Brush the tops with oil and slash the tops with a sharp knife.
  7. Let the dough rise until doubled in size.
  8. Bake at 350°F for 30 to 40 minutes.
