Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider using homemade raspberry preserves or adding a splash of almond extract to the custard. If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, substitute Amaretto with almond syrup. To save time, store-bought pound cake works well. Assemble the trifle a few hours ahead for easier serving. It's perfect paired with a side of Coconut Pineapple Squares for a delightful summer treat.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the Saronno Summer Trifle chilled, garnished with additional sliced peaches or a sprinkle of toasted almonds for added texture. This dessert pairs wonderfully with a light summer salad or grilled meats for a balanced meal. For a fun twist, consider serving slices alongside My 'Sweet' Cornbread for a Southern-inspired feast.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftover trifle in the refrigerator, covered tightly with plastic wrap or in an airtight container. It's best enjoyed within 2-3 days to maintain the freshness of the fruit and cream. Avoid freezing, as the texture can change upon thawing, especially with the whipped cream.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make the custard ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the custard a day in advance. Just cool it completely, cover it, and store it in the refrigerator. When ready to assemble the trifle, ensure it's at room temperature or slightly chilled for easy layering.

What can I substitute for peaches?

If peaches are out of season, feel free to substitute with other fruits like nectarines or plums. Berries, such as strawberries or blueberries, can also be a delicious alternative, adding vibrant color and flavor to the trifle.

Is there a way to make this trifle gluten-free?

Absolutely! Use gluten-free pound cake instead of traditional pound cake. Many grocery stores carry options, or you can make your own at home. Ensure that all other ingredients, including the raspberry preserves, are gluten-free as well.
