Ingredients

  • 2 lb boneless shoulder or chuck steak
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup catsup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Brown the shoulder or chuck steak in a preheated 425°F oven for 20 minutes; drain fat.
  2. Reduce oven temperature to 325°F.
  3. Combine water, catsup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and salt.
  4. Pour the sauce mixture over the meat.
  5. Cover and bake until the meat is tender, about 1 1/2 hours.
  6. Spoon sauce over the meat before serving.
  7. Can be made ahead, refrigerated, and reheated, covered.
