Ingredients

  • 1 lb. mild Italian sausage, cut into 1 inch links
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 apples, peeled and quartered
  • 1 can sauerkraut, undrained
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. caraway seeds

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, cook sausage and chopped onion until the sausage is browned and the onion is tender. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in peeled and quartered apples, undrained sauerkraut, water, brown sugar, and caraway seeds.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a 2 1/2-quart baking dish.
  4. Cover and bake at 350°F for one hour.
  5. Garnish with parsley, if desired.
