Sausage Coffee Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 pound sausage, bulk
  • 1/2 cup onions chopped
  • 14 cups parmesan, parmigiano-reggiano cheese, grated grated
  • 1/4 cup swiss cheese grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon red hot pepper sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons parsley leaves chopped
  • 2 cups biscuit baking mix (bisquick)
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 each egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon water

Instructions

  1. Brown the onions and sausage.
  2. Drain well.
  3. Add the onions, parmesan, swiss, tabasco, salt and parsley.
  4. Make a batter of biscuit mix, milk and mayo.
  5. Spread half of batter in 9x9x2 inch greased pan.
  6. Pour in sausage mixture.
  7. Spread remaining batter on top.
  8. Mix egg yolk and water and spread on top.
  9. Bake at 400F (200C).
  10. for 25 to 30 minutes until cake leaves edge of pan.
  11. Cool for 5 minutes before cutting into 3 inch squares.
