- Steam the string beans until tender, then rinse in cold water and drain.
- Cut the tomatoes into thin wedges and set aside.
- In a large skillet, melt 10 tablespoons of butter or margarine over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and cook until translucent.
- Stir in sliced mushrooms and cook until browned.
- Add minced garlic, dry basil, oregano, and salt; cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Combine the cooked beans with the sautéed mixture and cook for another 3-4 minutes to blend flavors.
- Sprinkle the soft bread crumbs and grated Parmesan cheese over the top.
- Serve hot, garnished with additional Parmesan if desired.
