Ingredients

  • 1 lb sausage, cooked and drained
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 6 slices bread, cut up
  • 1 teaspoon salt (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 cup grated Cheddar cheese
  • 1 can small mushrooms, drained

Instructions

  1. Beat eggs in a large bowl.
  2. Mix in milk, salt (if using), and dry mustard.
  3. Add cooked sausage, bread pieces, grated Cheddar cheese, and drained mushrooms; mix well.
  4. Refrigerate the mixture overnight, covered with foil.
  5. In the morning, preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Remove foil from the casserole.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour until golden and set.
  8. Serve hot with toasted cinnamon toast, orange juice, fruit, and coffee.
