Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup self-rising flour
  • 1/2 cup self-rising cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 1/2 pounds fish or shrimp

Instructions

  1. Combine self-rising flour, self-rising cornmeal, salt, and pepper in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Add cold water to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  3. Dip fish or shrimp into the batter, allowing excess to drain off.
  4. Fry in deep hot oil at 375°F for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Drain on paper towels before serving.
