Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. butter or margarine
  • 1/3 c. Crisco
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Cream together the butter or margarine, Crisco, sugar, and eggs (adding eggs one at a time).
  2. Sift together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
  3. Add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture, alternately with milk and vanilla, beginning and ending with flour.
  4. Mix well with a hand mixer.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased and floured tube pan.
  6. Bake at 325°F for 1 1/2 hours.
  7. Cool in the pan before removing.
