Ingredients
- 2 lb. flank or round steak, cut into strips 1/2 x 1 1/2-inches ⓘ
- 1 crushed garlic clove ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. salt ⓘ
- 1/8 tsp. pepper ⓘ
- 1/4 tsp. ginger ⓘ
- 1/4 tsp. sugar ⓘ
- 1/4 cup soy sauce ⓘ
- 1/2 cup water ⓘ
- 2 green peppers, cut in large chunks ⓘ
- 1 can bean sprouts, drained
- 1 medium onion, sliced ⓘ
- 4 medium tomatoes, quartered ⓘ
Instructions
- Brown the steak strips on all sides in a skillet.
- Add crushed garlic, salt, pepper, ginger, and sugar; stir well.
- Cover and cook over low heat for 20 minutes.
- Remove the meat from the skillet and set aside.
- Add soy sauce, green peppers, bean sprouts, and sliced onion to the skillet.
- Cook covered for 5 minutes.
- Push food to the edges of the skillet; add quartered tomatoes and cook covered for 5 minutes.
- Make a smooth paste of cornstarch and water.
- Add the cornstarch mixture to the hot skillet and stir gently until thickened.
- Return the cooked meat to the skillet, stir to combine, and serve hot with rice.
