Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider adding a splash of white wine to the vegetable mixture after sautéing. If shrimp isn't available, crawfish is an excellent substitute, especially if you're making Crawfish Etouffee (Smothered Crawfish). To save time, pre-chop your vegetables the day before and store them in the fridge.

Serving Suggestions

This etouffee is best served hot over a bed of fluffy cooked rice. Pair it with crusty French bread to soak up the delicious sauce, or a light salad for balance. It also pairs beautifully with seafood recipes for a complete feast.

Storage & Reheating

Leftover etouffee can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, gently warm in a saucepan over low heat, adding a splash of water or broth to loosen it up, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.
