Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups sliced almonds
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Place butter, sugar, 1 cup of sliced almonds, and almond extract in a bowl and beat with a mixer until blended.
  3. Add flour and beat until well blended.
  4. Spoon dough into an ungreased baking pan; press dough evenly into the pan.
  5. Sprinkle with remaining sliced almonds and press them lightly into the dough.
  6. Bake for about 25 minutes or until lightly golden.
  7. Immediately cut the shortbread into 15 squares using a butter knife.
  8. Cut each square diagonally to form triangles.
  9. Let cool before serving.
