- Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs, flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add vanilla.
- Mix well and divide dough into thirds.
- Leave one section of dough plain; shape into a long roll the diameter of a half dollar.
- To 1/3 dough, add cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Shape into a roll.
- To the other 1/3, add butterscotch chips, chopped nuts, dates, coconut, M&M's or other desired mix-ins.
- Shape, chill, and store in the fridge.
- Slice and bake as needed.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar while warm.
