Smoked Salmon Mousse

A luxurious smoked salmon mousse with fresh dill and scallions, perfect for elegant appetizers or party spreads, served with toast or crackers topped with onion and capers.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb smoked salmon
  • 1/2 lb cream cheese
  • 1/3 cup chopped scallions
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped dill
  • 2 Tbsp aquavit (optional)
  • Tabasco sauce to taste
  • freshly ground pepper to taste
  • juice of half a lemon
  • buttered toast or crackers
  • chopped raw onion
  • drained capers

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients except toast, chopped onion, and capers in the container of a food processor or blender.
  2. Blend to a fine puree.
  3. Pour the mixture into a serving dish.
  4. Smooth the top and chill.
  5. Serve on toast or crackers with chopped onion and drained capers on the side.
