Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups starter
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, sprinkle yeast over warm water and let it stand for 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in sugar, eggs, and starter.
  3. Gradually add flour mixed with salt.
  4. Cover bowl with a damp towel and let dough rise until doubled.
  5. Knead on floured board until satiny.
  6. Shape into 1 large loaf or 2 smaller loaves.
  7. Set on a cookie sheet to bake or put in greased bread pans.
  8. Make diagonal slashes on top of bread and cover.
  9. Let rise until doubled in size.
  10. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40 to 45 minutes.
