  12. When the underside is golden brown, place a plate or lid over the pan and carefully invert the tortilla onto it.
  13. Slide the tortilla back into the pan with the uncooked side down.
  14. Cook until the second side is golden brown.

Tips & Substitutions

For a creamier texture, consider adding a splash of milk to the eggs before mixing. You can substitute the potatoes with zucchini for a lighter version or use sweet potatoes for a different flavor. To avoid oil splatters, use a splatter guard while frying. Ensure the potatoes are evenly cut for uniform cooking and adjust the seasoning to your taste.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the Spanish omelette hot or at room temperature, garnished with fresh herbs like parsley or chives. It pairs beautifully with a simple salad dressed with Black-Pepper Dressing for a refreshing contrast. Consider serving with crusty bread or as part of a tapas spread for a delightful meal.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover Spanish omelette in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place it in a nonstick pan over low heat until warmed through, or microwave in short intervals, covered, to prevent drying out. It can also be enjoyed cold as a snack.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make the Spanish omelette ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the omelette ahead and store it in the refrigerator. It tastes great cold or can be reheated before serving. Many people enjoy it as a quick snack or lunch option, making it versatile for meal prep.

What type of potatoes are best for this recipe?

Waxy potatoes such as Yukon Gold or red potatoes work best because they hold their shape and texture when cooked. Avoid starchy potatoes like Russets, as they may become too mushy for the omelette.

Can I add other ingredients to the omelette?

Absolutely! Feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers, spinach, or even cooked chorizo for added flavor. Just be sure to adjust the cooking time accordingly so all ingredients are cooked through before adding them to the eggs.
