Ingredients

  • 4 medium yams
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Boil yams, covered, until almost done.
  2. Peel and slice the yams.
  3. Combine light corn syrup, light brown sugar, butter, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a 10-inch skillet.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Add the sliced yams to the skillet.
  6. Cover and simmer, basting occasionally, until the yams are completely done and glazed.
