Ingredients

  • 8 chicken pieces
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • pepper to taste
  • garlic powder to taste
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a bag.
  2. Shake the chicken pieces individually until coated.
  3. Brown the chicken in butter in a skillet over medium-high heat, then pour off the fat.
  4. In a bowl, combine the remaining ingredients: brown sugar, vinegar, orange juice, ground nutmeg, and dried basil.
  5. Add the mixture to the skillet with the chicken and simmer, covered, for 25 minutes or until the chicken is tender.
