Ingredients

  • 1 lb. dried kidney beans
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 stick margarine
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/2 lb. ham pieces
  • 6 to 8 drops hot sauce
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. liquid crab boil

Instructions

  1. Cover the dried kidney beans with hot water and let soak overnight.
  2. Next morning, add all ingredients except hot sauce and liquid crab boil to the soaked beans.
  3. Bring to a full boil and cook for 30 minutes.
  4. Reduce heat to low and simmer for another 30 minutes.
  5. Add hot sauce and liquid crab boil to the beans.
  6. Cook for an additional 30 minutes.
  7. Serve the spicy red beans over rice.
