Spidini Bread features crispy bacon, melted Swiss cheese, and flavorful mustard-poppy seed butter layered inside crusty French bread, perfect for sharing at gatherings or casual dinners.

Ingredients

  • 2 (20 oz.) loaves French bread
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 2 tsp. poppy seed
  • 1 Tbsp. prepared mustard
  • sliced Swiss cheese
  • sliced bacon

Instructions

  1. Cut each loaf of French bread into 1-inch thick slices, stopping about 1 inch from the bottom to keep the loaf intact.
  2. Sauté diced onion in margarine until translucent.
  3. Mix prepared mustard and poppy seed into the butter and sautéed onion.
  4. Spoon the butter mixture into the spaces between the bread slices.
  5. Insert sliced Swiss cheese between the slices of bread.
  6. Place sliced bacon on top of the assembled bread.
  7. Wrap the bread in foil securely.
  8. Bake at 350°F for approximately 15 minutes or until the bacon is cooked and cheese is melted.
