Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup blended whiskey
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Toss the dry ingredients (flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda) to mix.
  2. Cut in half the butter until the mixture resembles cornmeal.
  3. Add whiskey and buttermilk and mix to form a dough.
  4. Divide the dough in half.
  5. Roll each half into a sheet 1/4-inch thick.
  6. Cream the remaining butter and spread on one sheet.
  7. Cover with the second sheet.
  8. Cut into rounds with a biscuit cutter.
  9. Bake on an ungreased baking sheet in a very hot oven at 500°F for about 10 minutes.
