Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 bananas
  • 1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 quart Cool Whip

Instructions

  1. Cover the bottom of two 9 x 13-inch pans with crushed wafers.
  2. Slice bananas over the wafers.
  3. Place slices of vanilla ice cream in 1/2-inch thick slices over the bananas.
  4. Sprinkle walnuts on top.
  5. Freeze until firm.
  6. Melt semi-sweet chocolate chips and butter together.
  7. Add powdered sugar and evaporated milk to the melted mixture.
  8. Cook until smooth and thick, stirring constantly.
  9. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  10. Cool the chocolate mixture.
  11. Pour the cooled chocolate sauce over the ice cream layer and freeze again.
  12. Cover with Cool Whip and freeze.
  13. Before serving, sprinkle with additional nuts and top with cherries.
