Split Second Cookies are delightful, jam-filled treats with a buttery, sweet flavor, perfect for quick baking sessions and satisfying a sweet tooth craving.

Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2/3 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. soft margarine or butter
  • 1 unbeaten egg
  • 2 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Put in a bowl the flour, baking powder, and sugar.
  2. Blend in the butter, egg, and vanilla.
  3. Form the dough into 4 rolls, each 3/4-inch thick and 13 inches long.
  4. Place the rolls 4 inches apart on a cookie sheet.
  5. With the handle of a knife, make a dent down the center of each roll.
  6. Fill this dent with jelly or jam.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 10 to 12 minutes.
  8. While warm, cut diagonally into slices.
