- Put in a bowl the flour, baking powder, and sugar.
- Blend in the butter, egg, and vanilla.
- Form the dough into 4 rolls, each 3/4-inch thick and 13 inches long.
- Place the rolls 4 inches apart on a cookie sheet.
- With the handle of a knife, make a dent down the center of each roll.
- Fill this dent with jelly or jam.
- Bake at 350°F for 10 to 12 minutes.
- While warm, cut diagonally into slices.
