Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1/2 c. self-rising cornmeal
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. Melt margarine in a small casserole dish.
  3. Add boiling water to self-rising cornmeal and mix well.
  4. Add beaten egg, buttermilk, and sugar; mix thoroughly.
  5. Pour the mixture into the heated casserole dish.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes until golden and set.
