Ingredients

  • 1 cup white water ground meal
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • scant teaspoon salt
  • 1 well beaten egg
  • 1/2 cup sweet milk
  • 1 heaping teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon Crisco

Instructions

  1. Sift the meal and slowly stir in 2 cups of boiling water until smooth.
  2. Add salt and the well-beaten egg to the mixture.
  3. Pour the mixture into a sizzling baking dish that has been greased with 1 tablespoon of Crisco.
  4. Bake in a hot oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
