Ingredients

  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 slices bread
  • butter
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Put a cup of brown sugar into the top of a double boiler.
  2. Ensure there is water in the bottom pot of the double boiler.
  3. Butter 4 slices of bread on both sides and cut them into cubes.
  4. Place the bread cubes on top of the brown sugar in the double boiler.
  5. Beat 3 eggs and add 2 cups of milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla, then mix well.
  6. Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes in the double boiler.
  7. Do not stir the mixture.
  8. Cook until a knife inserted into the pudding comes out clean, about 1 to 1.5 hours.
