- Put a cup of brown sugar into the top of a double boiler.
- Ensure there is water in the bottom pot of the double boiler.
- Butter 4 slices of bread on both sides and cut them into cubes.
- Place the bread cubes on top of the brown sugar in the double boiler.
- Beat 3 eggs and add 2 cups of milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla, then mix well.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes in the double boiler.
- Do not stir the mixture.
- Cook until a knife inserted into the pudding comes out clean, about 1 to 1.5 hours.
