Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 package yeast
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  1. Put 1 1/2 cups flour in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add yeast and salt to the flour mixture.
  3. Combine milk, water, oil, and sugar in a saucepan and heat until warm.
  4. Pour the warm liquid into the flour mixture and beat until smooth.
  5. Add eggs to the batter and beat until smooth.
  6. Beat on low speed and add 1 cup of flour, mixing until smooth.
  7. Stir in the remaining cup of flour to form a soft dough.
  8. Spoon the dough into two greased 1‑pound coffee cans.
  9. Cover each can with its lid.
  10. Let the dough stand in a warm place until it rises almost to the top of the cans.
  11. Bake in a 375°F oven for 30 to 40 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. Let the loaves cool in the can for 10 minutes, then remove and serve.
