Ingredients

  • 12 cabbage leaves
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1/2 c. uncooked instant rice
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1/8 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp. water

Instructions

  1. Cover cabbage leaves with boiling water.
  2. Let stand until limp, about 10 minutes.
  3. Remove and drain.
  4. Mix ground beef, rice, onion, salt, pepper, garlic salt, and half of the tomato sauce.
  5. Place about 1/3 cup of meat mixture at the stem end of each leaf and roll leaf around the mixture, tucking in the sides.
  6. Place rolls seam side down in an 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish.
  7. Mix remaining ingredients and pour over cabbage rolls.
  8. Cover and bake at 350° for 45 minutes or until ground beef is done.
