A cheesy stuffed bread with rich flavors of Jarlsberg, Parmesan, and capers, perfect for sharing at gatherings or as a flavorful appetizer with salads or soups.

Ingredients

  • 1 large unsliced loaf French or Italian bread
  • 1/2 stick softened margarine
  • 2 cups grated Jarlsberg or Gruyere cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup capers
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Slice the loaf lengthwise three-quarters of the way through the middle.
  3. Scoop out the soft part of the bread and reserve it for another use.
  4. Combine the grated cheeses, capers, and chopped onion and blend well.
  5. Stuff the cheese mixture into the hollowed-out bread.
  6. Wrap the stuffed bread in aluminum foil.
  7. Bake for 20 minutes.
  8. Cut into 1 to 1½-inch slices and serve.
  9. Garnish with soups or salads if desired.
