Sugared Cranberry Trail Mix

A crunchy, sweet and salty trail mix featuring sugared cranberries, toasted almonds, and pretzels, perfect for snacking on hikes or as a festive treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole almonds
  • 2 cups small pretzels
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Spread almonds evenly on an ungreased baking sheet.
  2. Bake in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 7 or 8 minutes or until nuts are slightly darker in color.
  3. Cool completely on the pan.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine dried cranberries and pretzels.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk the egg white until frothy.
  6. Add granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt to the egg white and mix well.
  7. Gently toss the cranberries and pretzels with the sugared egg white mixture until evenly coated.
  8. Spread the coated mixture on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  9. Let the trail mix cool completely before storing.
