A hearty Sunday Night Casserole featuring bread, sausage, cheese, and a creamy mushroom sauce, perfect for comforting family dinners and easy to prepare ahead.

Ingredients

  • 8 to 10 slices bread, crusts removed and cubed
  • 10 oz. grated sharp cheese
  • 2 lb. sausage
  • 1 can mushroom soup
  • 1/4 can milk
  • 4 beaten eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare a 3-quart casserole dish or two 11-inch casseroles.
  2. Layer half of the bread cubes in the casserole dish.
  3. Add half of the browned and drained sausage on top of the bread.
  4. Sprinkle half of the grated cheese over the sausage.
  5. Repeat the layering with the remaining bread, sausage, and cheese.
  6. In a bowl, combine the mushroom soup, milk, beaten eggs, salt, and dry mustard to make the sauce.
  7. Pour the sauce evenly over the layered ingredients in the casserole.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 45 minutes or until hot and bubbly.
