- Wash the cucumbers thoroughly.
- Put dill on the bottom of a large jar; add cucumbers and place dill in the middle and on top.
- Cut the garlic clove and layer it with the cucumbers.
- Add alum to the jar.
- Mix water, vinegar, and salt until dissolved, then pour over the cucumbers.
- Let the jar sit in direct sunlight for 2 days, or 3 days if you prefer more sour pickles.
- Keep refrigerated after fermentation.
