Sunshine Pickles are tangy, crisp homemade pickles infused with garlic and dill, perfect for summer snacking or adding a flavorful crunch to meals. Suits pickle lovers and home canners.

Ingredients

  • 6 1/2 cups cold water
  • 3 1/4 cups white vinegar
  • 2/3 cup coarse salt
  • 1 large clove garlic
  • 1/8 teaspoon alum
  • dill
  • medium size cukes

Instructions

  1. Wash the cucumbers thoroughly.
  2. Put dill on the bottom of a large jar; add cucumbers and place dill in the middle and on top.
  3. Cut the garlic clove and layer it with the cucumbers.
  4. Add alum to the jar.
  5. Mix water, vinegar, and salt until dissolved, then pour over the cucumbers.
  6. Let the jar sit in direct sunlight for 2 days, or 3 days if you prefer more sour pickles.
  7. Keep refrigerated after fermentation.
