Ingredients

  • 2 c. string beans
  • 2 strips bacon, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 c. bean juice
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Cook the string beans until tender, then drain and save 1/4 cup of the bean juice.
  2. Combine the bean juice with sugar, pepper, flour, dry mustard, and salt in a saucepan, bring to a boil.
  3. Add the cooked beans and bacon to the sauce, and simmer, covered, for 15 minutes.
