- Scald the milk.
- Add sugar, salt, and shortening to the milk and cool.
- Add yeast to warm water and dissolve.
- Combine the yeast mixture with the cooled milk mixture.

- Add the remaining flour gradually and knead the dough.
- Allow the dough to rise in a greased bowl until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape into rolls.
- Allow the rolls to rise again.
- Bake at 350° to 375°F for 20 to 25 minutes.
