Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 3/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 7 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast, 1 tablespoon sugar, and lukewarm water together in a small bowl.
  2. Mix together milk and butter until combined.
  3. Put 5 cups of flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl, making a well in the center.
  4. Mix together the eggs, milk, butter, and dissolved yeast, then pour into the well in the flour mixture.
  5. Stir with a wooden spoon until the mixture cannot be mixed further.
  6. Pour out onto the remaining flour and knead until the dough is smooth.
  7. Place the dough into a greased bowl and cover.
  8. Let the dough double in size, then punch down the dough.
  9. Allow it to rise again until doubled.
  10. Shape the dough into rolls or a coffee cake and place in a prepared baking pan.
  11. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
