Tacos In A Shell

Flavorful taco-inspired shells filled with seasoned beef and melted cheese, topped with crunchy chips and fresh green onions for a satisfying, family-friendly dish.

Ingredients

  • 18 jumbo pasta shells
  • 1 1/4 lb ground beef
  • 1 (3 oz) package cream cheese with chives or plain cream cheese
  • 1 cup taco sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese or mozzarella cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups crushed tortilla chips

Instructions

  1. Cook the jumbo pasta shells according to package directions; drain well and add 2 tablespoons butter or margarine.
  2. Brown the ground beef in a skillet and drain excess fat.
  3. Cube the cream cheese and let it melt into the cooked beef.
  4. Stir in chili powder.
  5. Stuff the seasoned beef and cream cheese mixture into the cooked shells and place them in a 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
  6. Pour taco sauce over the stuffed shells and cover the pan with foil.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes, then uncover.
  8. Sprinkle shredded Cheddar and Monterey Jack (or mozzarella) cheese over the shells and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  9. Garnish with crushed tortilla chips and chopped green onions if desired.
