Ingredients

  • 2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 1/3 c. milk
  • 1 egg
  • 8 tsp. strawberry preserves
  • powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  2. Stir baking powder and salt into sifted all-purpose flour.
  3. Cut in shortening until mixture is the consistency of coarse meal.
  4. Add milk and egg, then mix until just combined.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of batter onto a baking sheet.
  6. Bake for about 12 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Spread strawberry preserves on biscuits and sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
