Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 large onions
  • 1 teaspoon garlic
  • 3 pounds ground meat
  • 2 (8 oz) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 1 (2.5 oz) can McCormick hot chili powder
  • 4 teaspoons red pepper
  • 5 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup white cornmeal
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 2 cups white cornmeal
  • 2 cups yellow cornmeal

Instructions

  1. Simmer the mixture in a covered pot for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
  2. Allow the tamales and sauce to cool before storing or serving.
  3. Tamales and sauce may be frozen after cooking for future use.
