Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. soft butter
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 to 3 Tbsp. brandy
  • 1/4 tsp. mace
  • 2 1/4 c. flour
  • milk

Instructions

  1. Cream the softened butter and sugar together until smooth and fluffy.
  2. Add the brandy and mace, mixing well to incorporate.
  3. Gradually add the flour and milk, a spoonful at a time, until a stiff dough forms.
  4. Refrigerate the dough until it is firm enough to roll out easily.
  5. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness on a floured surface.
  6. Cut out small circles from the dough using a cutter.
  7. Prick each biscuit with a fork to prevent puffing during baking.
  8. Bake in a preheated 350°F (175°C) oven until they are firm and lightly browned on the bottom, with tops remaining pale.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before storing in a covered jar.
