Ingredients

  • 3 lb. round steak
  • 1 c. flour
  • 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat from the meat and remove the bone.
  2. Cut the meat into smaller pieces for easier handling.
  3. Mix salt, pepper, and flour; sprinkle evenly over the meat pieces.
  4. Pound the seasonings into both sides of each meat piece.
  5. In a heavy skillet, quickly brown the meat on both sides in hot oil.
  6. Add a small amount of water to the skillet to prevent scorching.
  7. Pour mushroom soup over the meat, leaving some plain if desired.
  8. Cover and simmer for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, depending on the thickness of the steak.
