Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 stick margarine softened
  • 1 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese softened
  • 1 large carton Cool Whip

Instructions

  1. Place a can of Eagle Brand or Carnation condensed milk in a deep saucepan filled with water, ensuring the can is fully covered.
  2. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for 2 1/2 hours, keeping the can submerged at all times.
  3. Remove the can from water and let it cool completely before opening.
  4. Open the cooled, caramelized condensed milk can and spoon the caramel into a baked plain pie shell or graham cracker crust.
  5. Allow the caramel-filled pie to cool completely.
  6. Spread Cool Whip or whipped cream over the cooled caramel layer.
  7. Refrigerate the pie until ready to serve.
