Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 lb. dark brown sugar
  • 3/4 c. melted butter
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 c. buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Combine flour and sugar. Cut in butter. Set aside 1 cup of this mixture for topping. Add cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg and ginger to the remaining flour mixture. Stir in eggs and buttermilk. Do not use electric mixer. Pour the batter into a greased 9 x 12 pan. Sprinkle reserved topping over batter and bake for 45 minutes or until done.
