Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 egg white
  • 6 cups flour
  • 3 heaping teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla flavoring

Instructions

  1. Cream sugar and butter; add eggs.
  2. Sift 4 cups of flour, baking powder, and salt together and add slowly to the egg mixture.
  3. Add vanilla and orange flavorings.
  4. Mix with a mixer.
  5. Stir in about 2 more cups of flour by hand until the mixture looks like biscuit dough.
  6. Roll out on a floured board about 1/4-inch thick and cut with a 2-inch biscuit cutter.
  7. Place on greased cookie sheets and bake on the bottom rack of a preheated 400°F oven for 6 minutes, then move to the middle rack for 6 more minutes.
