Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground venison
  • 1/4 c. oil
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 large green pepper, cut in strips
  • 3 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 3 1/2 c. whole tomatoes
  • 1 c. tomato sauce
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. cooked kidney beans

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground venison in 1/4 cup oil.
  2. Add chopped onion, minced garlic, and green pepper strips.
  3. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Add chili powder, sugar, whole tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, and salt.
  5. Simmer the mixture for 1 1/2 hours.
  6. If a thicker chili is desired, stir in 1 tablespoon flour mixed with 2 tablespoons water.
  7. Just before serving, add the cooked kidney beans.
