Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare a 10 x 15 inch pan.
  2. Blend shortening, sugar, and brown sugar until creamy.
  3. Mix in beaten egg yolks, water, and vanilla until well combined.
  4. Gradually add sifted flour, salt, soda, and baking powder, mixing thoroughly.
  5. Press the mixture evenly into the prepared pan.
  6. Bake at the appropriate temperature until golden and firm.
